Position summary

We are seeking a motivated and dynamic Restructuring & Insolvency Senior Associate (5–7 PQE) to join our highly regarded and growing London team. This is an excellent opportunity to work on complex, high‑profile restructuring and insolvency matters, advising a broad range of stakeholders across both contentious and non‑contentious mandates. You will be trusted to take on significant responsibility from day one, including leading transactions, managing matters independently, and playing an active role in cross‑practice and cross‑border work. You’ll also have the opportunity to contribute to business development initiatives and help shape the future growth of the practice within a collaborative, inclusive and forward‑thinking firm.

Position responsibilities

  • Advising a wide range of stakeholders on restructuring and insolvency matters, including insolvency office holders, lenders, directors, investors and corporates, tailoring advice to suit each client’s objectives.
  • Leading distressed M&A transactions, acting for both buy‑side and sell‑side clients across a variety of sectors, including coordinating with overseas counsel where required.
  • Advising boards of large corporates, start‑ups and scale‑ups through periods of financial stress and distress, including on directors’ duties, contingency planning and restructuring options.
  • Drafting, reviewing and negotiating a broad range of restructuring and insolvency documentation, including security reviews, enforcement documentation, administration sale agreements, in‑court and out‑of‑court appointments and related court applications.
  • Undertaking legal research and providing practical, commercial solutions to complex problems.
  • Playing an active role in business development, including client relationship management, thought leadership and wider market engagement.

Experience, Skills, And Qualifications

  • 5–7 years’ post‑qualification experience (PQE) in restructuring and insolvency law gained within a respected law firm.
  • Experience advising on both contentious and non‑contentious insolvency and restructuring matters.
  • A comprehensive understanding of restructuring and insolvency law and practice, including familiarity with relevant financial documentation.
  • Strong knowledge of corporate and business structures, with the ability to analyze complex financial and legal information.
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to explain complex legal issues clearly to a diverse client base.
  • The ability to manage multiple matters simultaneously while maintaining a high level of attention to detail.
  • Awareness of cross‑border insolvency issues and sector‑specific regulatory considerations.
  • A proactive approach to business development, knowledge sharing and contribution to team growth.
