Business-Facing Wintel Engineer – Leading Hedge Fund (London / Hybrid)
Business-Facing Wintel Engineer with around 7-10 years of experience sought by a major Global Hedge Fund.
Based in South West London, with four days per week onsite, you will join a small, highly proactive and logical problem-solving team providing first to third line support, automation and engineering for technically savvy business users and peer technology teams. We require someone who enjoys working with users in order to build trust and confidence, with high energy and enthusiasm who enjoys learning and keeping very busy with highly varied and deeply technical engineering work, in a flat non-bureaucratic environment with state‑of‑the‑art platforms.
Requirements
- Expert knowledge in management and deployment of Microsoft Office applications.
- Extensive knowledge in supporting Windows Operating systems, networks and applications.
- Significant experience managing Windows Server tooling i.e. Group Policy, Active Directory, File Sharing, DNS, DHCP, with experience in managing a virtualised environment.
- Excellent IaC experience and depth (fully hands‑on automation engineering) “allergic to repetitive manual tasks, writing good and useful scripts. PowerShell and/or Python. Puppet, Ansible, Terraform if possible too.”
- Excellent workload management, prioritisation, ownership. Experience planning and running their own projects.
- Strong scripting skills in PowerShell, writing good and useful scripts. Solid experience in IaC tech i.e. puppet, terraform etc.
- Logical problem solver (demonstrable i.e. what have you done?) with fantastic communication skills (concise/to the point/honest/humble etc).
- High energy, enthusiastic, proactive, curious, driven. Enjoy working through challenges and puzzles.
- Experienced working in high performance, fast‑paced, and demanding environments with a level of autonomy.
- Finance / Trading experience is not a requirement, but applicants must have experience of directly supporting users.
This is an outstanding opportunity for a talented, enthusiastic and deeply technical Wintel Engineer to take ownership of one of the most advanced Windows environments in London. Candidates must be able to work onsite in South West London four days per week, with standard working hours if 8am‑6pm.
