Role Description
This is a full-time, on‑site Gas Service Engineer / Mechanical Pipe Fitter role based in Wigan. The role involves installing, maintaining, and repairing gas appliances, heating systems, and mechanical pipework in domestic and commercial properties. Day‑to‑day tasks include carrying out scheduled servicing, diagnosing faults, performing repairs, and ensuring systems meet safety and regulatory standards. The position also includes reading and interpreting technical drawings, coordinating with colleagues and clients on‑site, and completing accurate service and maintenance records. The engineer will be expected to follow all health and safety procedures, use tools and equipment correctly, and provide clear, professional communication to customers and team members.
Qualifications
- Strong troubleshooting skills to diagnose issues in gas, heating, and mechanical pipe systems.
- Proven field service experience working on‑site with customers in residential and/or commercial environments.
- Effective communication skills to interact clearly with clients, colleagues, and supervisors.
- Technical support and maintenance & repair skills for gas appliances, boilers, and associated pipework.
- Relevant gas and plumbing qualifications (e.g., Gas Safe registration or equivalent, NVQ or similar in plumbing/heating or pipe fitting).
- Solid understanding of industry regulations, safety standards, and best practices for gas and mechanical installations.
- Ability to read technical drawings and specifications and work independently with minimal supervision.
- Valid UK driving licence and eligibility to work in the United Kingdom.
