We are seeking an outstanding Assistant Head of Department for Health and Social Care to join our successful Social Sciences Faculty. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced practitioner to play a key role in driving curriculum excellence, supporting colleagues and contributing to the continued success and growth of the department. Working closely with the Head of Faculty, the successful candidate will help shape an engaging and high‑quality learning experience for students, whilst supporting the strategic development of the curriculum and department.
Responsibilities
- Supporting the development and quality assurance of teaching and learning resources.
- Assisting with the moderation and monitoring of assessment practices.
- Supporting and mentoring colleagues, including Early Career Teachers and new staff.
- Leading and developing enrichment opportunities that enhance the student experience.
- Supporting stretch and challenge initiatives to maximise student achievement.
- Analysing student performance data to inform curriculum planning and quality improvement.
- Contributing to student voice activities and departmental self-assessment processes.
- Representing the department at open evenings, school liaison activities and recruitment events.
- Deputising for the Head of Department/Faculty when required.
