To support with issuing of van stock, tools, ladders and rigs, maintaining accurate engineer van stock allowing field staff to carry out their work in the most efficient manner as well as controlling costs in relation to the areas of responsibility.

Key Responsibilities

  • Stock management of engineer van stocks.
  • Stock management of all power tools, both on vans and in warehouse.
  • Issuing of new engineer equipment, e.g. ladders, power tools, rigs.
  • Control the issuing of the above in a cost‑efficient manner.
  • Sense check all van stock requests.
  • Liaise with UKAS lab to ensure all new tools, ladders, rigs etc are registered correctly.
  • Conduct routine van audits and flag up major discrepancies with the relevant teams.
  • Maintain accurate stock records for all engineers.
  • Support HSEQ with maintaining equipment on vans (e.g. first aid kits).
  • Monitor usage of stock and request returns of parts not used.
  • Maintain accurate database of all power tools, ladders and rigs on vans and in stock in the warehouse.
  • Issuing of new staff uniform for all company employees.
  • Monitoring of uniform issues and flagging over‑ordering with relevant departments.
  • Booking of transport for engineer returns from sites or other locations.
  • Support the purchasing activity with the raising of new POs to approved suppliers for areas of responsibility (e.g. tools, van stock).
  • Updating of raised purchase orders with correct costs and ETAs.
  • Conduct research to identify potential new suppliers for areas of responsibility (e.g. power tools and van stock), negotiating competitive and efficient supply.
  • Work professionally and effectively across departments where applicable.
  • Create new part numbers, in line with company policy, as required.
  • Ensure all power tools, ladders and rigs are returned and correctly transacted in line with UKAS when an engineer departs the company or returns items.
  • Identify and execute opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Manage expenditure across all activities, ensuring best value for money, whilst looking to consistently reduce expenditure.
  • Other ad‑hoc duties as directed.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in purchasing and/or van stock control.
  • Technical or engineering knowledge is desirable.
  • IT literacy including Microsoft Office.
  • Good analytical skills and strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Efficient organisational and time management skills.
  • Identify and execute opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Excellent levels of communication at all levels and strong teamwork.
  • Positive, can‑do attitude.
