We're recruiting on behalf of a long-established precision engineering and tooling business based in Tameside, recognised globally for delivering high-quality engineering solutions across the aerospace, defence and advanced manufacturing sectors. The business has built a strong reputation for the design and manufacture of precision tooling, jigs, fixtures, and complex engineered solutions for OEM customers worldwide. The company continues to invest heavily in advanced machining technology, project delivery capability and engineering excellence. Due to continued growth and a strong project pipeline, they are now looking to appoint an experienced Project Engineer to support the successful delivery of complex engineering projects from concept through to completion.

The Role

As Project Engineer, you will be responsible for planning, coordinating and overseeing engineering projects across manufacturing and tooling operations, ensuring delivery against technical, quality, budget and timescale requirements. You’ll work closely with design, manufacturing, quality and customer teams, acting as a key link between departments to ensure projects run smoothly and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage engineering projects from initial concept through to manufacture and final delivery
  • Coordinate activities across design, machining, assembly and quality departments
  • Liaise directly with customers to provide technical and project updates
  • Support resource planning, scheduling and project documentation
  • Monitor project costs, timelines and engineering deliverables
  • Ensure projects comply with quality, safety and customer requirements
  • Identify and resolve technical or production issues throughout project lifecycle
  • Support continuous improvement activities across engineering operations

What We’re Looking For

  • Previous experience within a Project Engineer or Manufacturing Engineer role
  • Background within precision engineering, tooling, aerospace or advanced manufacturing
  • Strong understanding of machining, fabrication or engineered assemblies
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills
  • Commercial awareness with strong problem-solving ability
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously
  • Engineering qualification advantageous
