Systems and Controls Engineer £38,000–£49,000 DOE | Birmingham | 6-month contract Join a multidisciplinary engineering team delivering automation, test and electro-hydraulic solutions from concept to commissioning. The role We’re seeking a hands-on engineer to develop, test and commission LabVIEW, PLC and electro-hydraulic control systems in a manufacturing and product-development environment. What you’ll be doing Design, program and commission LabVIEW, PLC, embedded and machine-control solutions. Develop electro-hydraulic systems and specify sensors, valves, controllers, PLCs and HMIs. Create schematics, wiring diagrams, specifications, test plans and technical documentation. Test systems, diagnose faults, analyse data and implement corrective actions. Support prototypes, production and continuous improvements in performance, reliability and manufacturability. What you’ll need Degree, HND/HNC or equivalent in controls, electrical/electronic engineering, mechatronics or automation. Controls, automation or systems-engineering experience in engineering or manufacturing. Experience with PLC, embedded or machine-control systems. Knowledge of hydraulic or electro-hydraulic systems and control hardware. Strong schematic-reading, fault-finding, problem-solving and communication skills. Desirable experience LabVIEW, HMI, embedded C/C++, hydraulic simulation, servo controls, instrumentation or heavy-engineering experience would be advantageous.
