Winsearch are recruiting for a Sales Estimator on behalf of a well-established aerospace engineering business based in Stalybridge. Due to continued growth, the company is looking to strengthen its commercial team with an individual who has a strong engineering understanding and experience of estimating or costing within a manufacturing environment.
This is an opportunity to join a business with a long-standing reputation in the aerospace sector, working closely with customers, suppliers and internal departments to produce accurate quotations and support new business opportunities.
The Role
Working as part of the sales team, you will manage customer enquiries from receipt through to quotation, ensuring all costs and manufacturing requirements are accurately assessed.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive and review customer enquiries via email, telephone and online portals.
- Analyse Bills of Materials (BoMs) to determine manufacturing processes and requirements.
- Obtain and manage quotations from external suppliers.
- Record and maintain enquiries on internal tracking systems.
- Monitor customer portals and dashboards to ensure enquiries are progressing as required.
- Chase suppliers for pricing and lead times where necessary.
- Build detailed costings for components and assemblies.
- Prepare quotation and submission documentation for customers.
- Provide support to the wider sales and commercial team when required.
About You
The successful candidate will ideally have:
- Experience within a precision engineering or manufacturing environment.
- Previous estimating or costing experience.
- The ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
- Good commercial awareness and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and organisational skills.
- A proactive approach and willingness to take ownership of tasks.
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Excel.
- The ability to work effectively in a busy, customer-focused environment.
