Winsearch are recruiting for a Business Development Manager on behalf of a well-established aerospace engineering business based in Stalybridge. This is a key commercial role suited to an experienced business development professional with a background in aerospace, engineering, manufacturing, or defence.

Working closely with senior leadership, you will be responsible for developing new business opportunities, strengthening existing customer relationships, and supporting the continued growth of the organisation's surface treatment division.

The Role

As Business Development Manager, you will play a hands-on role in identifying and securing new opportunities while maintaining and growing relationships with existing customers. You will work closely with internal stakeholders to understand customer requirements, support quotations, and contribute to the wider commercial strategy. The position will involve regular customer visits, industry engagement, and pipeline management, with responsibility for providing updates on sales activity and new business opportunities to the senior leadership team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and develop new business opportunities across aerospace, defence, and engineering markets.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with new and existing customers.
  • Work closely with senior management to support sales and marketing activities.
  • Monitor market trends, customer requirements, and competitor activity.
  • Gather customer feedback and identify areas for continuous improvement.
  • Support new product introduction and customer-led projects.
  • Assist with the preparation of quotations and commercial proposals when required.
  • Attend customer meetings and industry events to promote company capabilities.
  • Maintain accurate sales records and pipeline activity through CRM systems.
  • Provide regular updates and reports on business development activity.

About You

We are keen to speak with candidates who have:

  • A proven track record in business development, technical sales, or account management within aerospace, engineering, manufacturing, or defence.
  • Strong customer relationship management and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • An understanding of surface treatment, coatings, or related manufacturing processes.
  • The ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and Bills of Materials.
  • Experience discussing technical requirements with customers and providing commercial solutions.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Experience using CRM systems.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
  • A self-motivated, target-driven approach with the resilience to develop new business opportunities.
  • The ability to work independently while contributing as part of a wider team.
