We are currently looking for a skilled Mechanical Assembly Technician to support the assembly, build and testing of factory automation equipment, motor pump sets and manifold assemblies. The role would suit someone with strong mechanical assembly experience, the ability to read engineering drawings and a good eye for quality, safety and accuracy.

You will play a key role in supporting production by assembling components to specification, completing relevant documentation and helping ensure work is completed to customer, quality and delivery requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Build and assemble factory automation assemblies, including TS2, VF, LT and EDC assemblies, using correct assembly methods and tooling.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, part lists and electrical circuit drawings to ensure assemblies meet customer specifications and safety requirements.
  • Identify the correct components, materials and tools required to complete mechanical assembly and testing work efficiently.
  • Complete inspection, test and production documentation accurately, including SAP, rectification sheets, stores requisitions, inspection records and job completion sheets.
  • Assemble aluminium MGE frameworks and components to the correct tolerances and quality standards.
  • Check stock levels and raise any shortages or material requirements with team leaders.
  • Carry out housekeeping duties within the work area, maintaining a safe, clean and organised environment in line with 5S principles.
  • Provide constructive feedback on drawings and design performance, recommending improvements where appropriate.
  • Support continuous improvement activities and contribute ideas to improve quality, efficiency and reduce waste within the process.
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues, team leaders and other departments to support smooth workflow and team performance.
  • Support site installation work where required, including maintaining site records, completing HSE paperwork and following relevant safety procedures.
  • Lead or support site teams during installation activity, including delegating tasks and checking work where required.
Key Requirements
  • Previous experience in mechanical fitting, mechanical assembly, automation assembly or a similar manufacturing/engineering role.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, electrical drawings, part lists and technical documentation.
  • Experience assembling components to specification, tolerance and quality standards.
  • Strong attention to detail with a focus on accuracy, quality and safe working practices.
  • Good understanding of workshop processes, production documentation and continuous improvement principles.
  • Comfortably completing paperwork and using systems such as SAP where required.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work well as part of a team.
  • Able to work independently, manage workload and ask for support where needed.
  • HNC in Mechanical / Electrical Engineering, a multi-skilled apprenticeship or equivalent experience would be advantageous.
  • Experience in site work and installation would be beneficial.
