We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Sheet Metal Worker / Metal Deburring Operative to join our manufacturing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for finishing and preparing sheet metal components to required quality standards by removing burrs, sharp edges, and surface imperfections. The role also involves supporting fabrication processes, inspecting finished parts, and ensuring all work is completed safely and accurately.
Key Responsibilities
- Deburr and finish sheet metal components using hand tools, power tools, linishing equipment, and other finishing machinery.
- Remove sharp edges, swarf, burrs, and surface defects from manufactured parts.
- Inspect components against engineering drawings and quality specifications.
- Operate grinding, polishing, sanding, and finishing equipment safely and effectively.
- Support sheet metal fabrication activities as required.
- Maintain high standards of quality and workmanship at all times.
- Identify and report non-conforming products or defects.
- Ensure parts are cleaned, labelled, and prepared for the next stage of production.
- Carry out basic measurements using verniers, rulers, gauges, and other measuring equipment.
- Adhere to health and safety procedures, including the use of PPE.
- Maintain a clean and organised work area following 5S principles.
- Assist with stock movement and material handling where required.
- Work collaboratively with fabrication, welding, and quality teams to meet production targets.
Skills & Experience
- Previous experience within a sheet metal, fabrication, engineering, or manufacturing environment.
- Experience carrying out deburring, grinding, linishing, polishing, or metal finishing.
- Ability to read and interpret basic engineering drawings.
- Good attention to detail and commitment to quality standards.
- Ability to use hand and power tools safely.
- Strong work ethic and reliability.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Comfortable handling metal components and materials.
- Ability to lift and move items safely in line with manual handling guidelines.
