We are seeking a talented and detail-oriented Design Engineer with a strong background in the façade industry to join our growing engineering team. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing innovative façade design solutions, producing detailed engineering drawings, and supporting projects from concept through to manufacture and installation.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in the façade sector and be proficient in SolidWorks and Rhino (Rhinoceros 3D), with a strong understanding of building envelope systems, fabrication processes, and technical design requirements.
Key Responsibilities- Produce detailed 2D and 3D design models for façade systems, including curtain walling, cladding, rainscreen systems, glazing, and bespoke architectural features.
- Develop engineering drawings, fabrication details, and technical documentation using SolidWorks and Rhino.
- Collaborate with architects, structural engineers, project managers, and manufacturing teams to deliver practical and cost-effective design solutions.
- Conduct design reviews and ensure compliance with project specifications, industry standards, and building regulations.
- Support design calculations, material selection, and value engineering activities.
- Prepare manufacturing drawings and assembly documentation for production teams.
- Identify and resolve technical issues throughout the project lifecycle.
- Attend project meetings and communicate technical information to internal and external stakeholders.
- Assist with prototype development, testing, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure all designs are developed in accordance with quality, safety, and performance requirements.
- Degree or HNC/HND in Mechanical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, Civil Engineering, Product Design, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 3 years' experience within the façade, building envelope, curtain walling, or architectural metalwork industry.
- Strong proficiency in SolidWorks and Rhino (Rhinoceros 3D).
- Experience producing manufacturing and fabrication drawings.
- Good understanding of façade systems, materials, and construction methods.
- Ability to interpret architectural and engineering drawings.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience with AutoCAD and BIM/Revit.
- Knowledge of façade performance requirements, including structural, thermal, acoustic, and weathering considerations.
- Familiarity with UK building regulations and relevant industry standards.
- Experience supporting design calculations and finite element analysis (FEA).
- Experience working within a manufacturing environment.
