We are recruiting for a Multi Skilled Engineer to join a well-established FMCG manufacturing business based in Middleton. This is a large, fast-paced production site with a strong engineering culture, modern equipment, and a clear focus on continuous improvement.
The Role
Reporting to the Engineering Section Manager, you will be part of a multi-skilled engineering team providing both reactive and planned maintenance across a high-volume production environment. This is a hands-on role where you will be responsible for keeping production running efficiently, minimising downtime, and supporting ongoing improvement projects across site. We are looking to recruit two engineers, one electrically biased and one mechanically biased.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out reactive maintenance and fault finding to minimise downtime and production losses
- Complete planned preventative maintenance (PPM) activities to a high standard
- Work with permit to work systems, isolations and risk assessments
- Support continuous improvement and lean maintenance initiatives
- Accurately record work using CMMS systems, including parts and follow-up actions
- Work closely with production, quality and H&S teams to ensure minimal disruption
- Assist with installation, commissioning and improvement of new equipment
- Support training and development of other engineers where required
- Maintain high standards of health and safety at all times
About You
- Time served apprenticeship or Level 3 qualification in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
- Experience working as a Multi Skilled Engineer within a manufacturing environment
- Strong fault finding skills, either electrical or mechanical bias
- Experience working on high-speed or automated production machinery
- Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical drawings
- Knowledge of pneumatic, hydraulic and control systems
- Proactive, team-oriented approach with strong problem-solving ability
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
