Contract: Temporary ongoing contract
Shift Pattern: 4 on / 4 off rota (2 days, 2 nights)
Job Purpose
To support day-to-day quality assurance activities on site, ensuring products meet quality, safety and compliance standards (including BRC), while supporting production and continuous improvement.
Key Activities
- Contribute to site CI projects to improve the overall quality of raw materials and finished products, environmental impact and/or productivity.
- Provide flexible QA/Analytical support to blending, blowmould and filling processes to assist and ensure conformance in each of the departments in relation to quality-related issues.
- Generate/collate data and evaluate quality failures in materials or intermediate/finished goods attributes to drive cost reduction, performance improvement and reduce waste.
- Where agreed with the Quality Manager, undertake project work related to the prevention of customer complaints and major rework.
- Support incident investigations that identify root causes of major non-conformances, working with Filling, Blowmoulding and Logistics personnel to conduct effective investigations.
- Be conversant in packaging production processes and associated quality procedures to support production and facilitate solutions to quality-related issues.
- Audit/contact suppliers as and when required, ensuring all processes and procedures in place are suitable for RMB requirements.
- Communicate all non-conforming raw material information quickly and ensure, as far as possible, that suppliers introduce their own preventative actions.
- Support investigations into consumer/customer complaints.
- Communicate fully with other team members between shifts to ensure efficient solutions to problems and completion of common goals.
- Provide support for first production batches to ensure that they are correctly set and that quality is acceptable to the customer.
- When needed, undertake QC testing following the Quality Procedures/Instructions for all liquid samples.
- Produce Management Information as required.
- Ensure changes to work procedures are communicated to relevant departments.
- Audit procedures to confirm compliance.
- Raise Health & Safety standards by performing planned inspections, risk assessments and accident investigations.
Skills & Experience Required
- A HSE qualification or demonstrable experience working within a safety/environmental role.
- Appreciation of quality assurance systems including: ISO 9001:2(Apply online only) SGS Laboratory Accreditation SGS Supplier Accreditation.
- Understanding of Weights and Measures legislation and European Standards.
- QA/QC/EHS experience in an FMCG environment.
- Understanding of key packaging materials (blowmoulded bottles, labels, outer cases, closures).
- Experience in Continuous Improvement Projects.
- Qualified in a Technical/Quality subject, preferably to βAβ Level standard/equivalent or above.
- Computer literate (Excel, Word, Email).
- Experience of internal auditing.
