- Working from drawings, setup sheets and tooling specs
- Checking tooling using micrometers, verniers and calipers
- Keeping track of tooling stock, regrinds and replacements
- Supporting machinists with tool changes and setup requirements
- Sorting out tooling issues to avoid delays on the shop floor
- Handling larger tooling like face mills, boring heads and multi-insert tooling
- Keeping the tooling area organised and in line with 5S standards
- Following all health & safety and quality procedures
What we're looking for:
- Experience working with tooling in a CNC machining environment
- Good understanding of milling, drilling and boring tools
- Able to read engineering drawings and technical info
- Confident using measuring equipment
- Good attention to detail
- Able to manage your own workload and stay organised
- Practical, hands-on approach and works well with others
Nice to have:
- Background in heavy engineering, oil & gas, nuclear or similar
- Experience working with large components
- Engineering or machining qualifications
- Familiar with larger CNC machines (horizontal, vertical, gantry)
- Experience with modular tooling systems (e.g. Varilock)
The environment:
- This role is based on the shop floor and will involve:
- Noise from machining and general workshop activity
- Working with metal swarf and coolant
- Handling and assembling heavy tooling
- Standing and moving around for most of the shift
