I'm currently supporting a growing and progressive organisation in the Humber region as they continue to invest in their logistics operation and strengthen their transport team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Senior Transport Planner who is looking for more than just another planning role. The business is keen to attract someone with the ambition to grow, develop and progress into leadership over time. It would particularly suit someone who is aspiring to become a Transport Manager in the future and wants to join an organisation where there is genuine scope to build a long-term career as the operation continues to evolve.
The Role
This is a commercially focused, KPI-driven position where you will play a key role in the day-to-day transport planning operation, while also contributing to wider operational performance, efficiency and continuous improvement. You will be responsible for coordinating daily transport activity, ensuring routes are planned effectively, vehicles are utilised efficiently and service levels are maintained across a busy operation. Alongside the day-to-day planning piece, you will also have the opportunity to contribute to process improvement, support operational decision-making and build the broader skill set needed for future leadership responsibility.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and coordinate daily transport operations across a busy fleet
- Optimise routes and maximise vehicle utilisation
- Monitor and analyse performance against key KPIs
- Support cost control and service delivery improvements
- Manage daily planning challenges and resolve operational issues quickly and effectively
- Work closely with operational teams to ensure efficient execution
- Produce and review plan versus actual performance reporting
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement across the transport function
- Support the effective use of transport planning systems
- Assist with planning requirements during peak and seasonal periods
- Contribute ideas and initiatives that improve efficiency, service and overall operational performance
