A fast-growing FMCG manufacturer is strengthening its leadership team with the appointment of an Engineering Manager. You will lead the site engineering function, take full ownership of engineering performance and drive a culture of reliability, improvement and professional development. The role requires a leader who can deliver in a hands-on environment while also contributing to long-term strategy as the operation continues to grow. Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop a multi-skilled engineering team and external contractors
  • Ensure engineering resource and shift cover supports a continuous manufacturing operation
  • Own the preventative and reactive maintenance strategy across production and utilities
  • Drive rapid response to breakdowns to protect output and minimise downtime
  • Lead root cause analysis and implement long-term corrective actions
  • Oversee engineering activity including upgrades, installations and commissioning
  • Manage engineering projects in partnership with OEMs and external suppliers
  • Ensure full compliance with health and safety, food safety and engineering legislation
  • Lead risk assessments, method statements and safe systems of work
  • Work closely with Production and Quality to improve OEE, reliability and line performance
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, asset registers and schedules through the CMMS
  • Manage engineering KPIs, budgets, spares and contractor spend
  • Provide clear performance updates and recommendations to senior leadership
  • Contribute to the long-term engineering strategy as the business continues to expand

The Person

  • Proven experience as an Engineering Manager or senior engineering leader within FMCG or food and drink manufacturing
  • Strong multi-skilled engineering background with mechanical and electrical capability
  • Experience with high-speed automated production lines and PLC controlled equipment
  • Comfortable stepping into a busy environment and delivering impact quickly
  • Strong knowledge of health and safety legislation and food safety standards including HACCP and GMP
  • Confident leading teams, contractors and senior stakeholders
  • Ambitious, forward-thinking and ready to grow into a more strategic leadership role
  • Delivery focused, pragmatic and commercially aware
