The Role
You will lead the Engineering, Maintenance, Process Engineering and Facilities functions to maximise plant reliability, operational efficiency, product quality and overall site capability. The remit combines strategic leadership with hands on operational delivery in a high-speed manufacturing environment. You will develop and implement the site engineering strategy, deliver continuous improvement programmes, lead capital investment projects and build a high performing engineering team. The role is accountable for the safe, reliable and cost-effective operation of all manufacturing assets, utilities and facilities while supporting the wider business objectives across Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost and People.
Key Responsibilities
- Leading, coaching and developing the engineering and process engineering teams
- Driving a culture of accountability, continuous improvement and technical excellence
- Managing engineering resource planning, contractor activity and team capability
- Owning the site asset management and reliability strategy
- Improving equipment performance through strong preventative and reliability centred maintenance
- Delivering engineering KPIs including OEE, downtime, PM compliance and maintenance cost
- Ensuring all utilities, facilities and infrastructure are maintained to required standards
- Supporting process optimisation, problem solving and continuous improvement activity
- Leading engineering projects, CapEx delivery and investment proposals
- Managing budgets, maintenance spend and engineering stock control
- Ensuring compliance with all health, safety, environmental and statutory requirements
- Supporting audits, inspections and engineering risk assessments
- Acting as a key member of the Site Leadership Team and providing technical support during major issues
The Person
- Experienced engineering leader with a strong electromechanical background
- Proven experience managing engineering, maintenance and process engineering functions
- FMCG, packaging or plastics manufacturing experience highly advantageous
- Strong understanding of reliability, asset care and maintenance best practice
- Experience leading teams, contractors and cross functional stakeholders
- Strong knowledge of health and safety legislation and engineering compliance
- Strategic thinker with the ability to deliver hands on operational results
- Commercially aware, improvement focused and able to influence at all levels
- Computer skills in Microsoft Excel and Word
