Winsearch is recruiting an experienced Multimodal Freight Forwarder to join an established international freight and logistics business based in North East Lincolnshire. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced freight forwarding professional with experience managing international import and export shipments across road, sea and air freight. You will take responsibility for shipments from initial booking through to final delivery, working closely with customers, carriers, shipping lines, hauliers and overseas agents.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate international import and export shipments.
- Manage road, air and deep-sea freight movements.
- Arrange FCL and LCL container shipments.
- Make bookings with shipping lines, airlines, hauliers and overseas agents.
- Prepare and check freight and shipping documentation.
- Ensure shipments comply with relevant customs procedures.
- Liaise with customers and provide regular shipment updates.
- Monitor shipments from collection through to final delivery.
- Obtain rates from carriers and suppliers.
- Prepare quotations and accurately record shipment costs.
- Resolve delays, documentation issues and operational problems.
- Maintain accurate records on internal freight management systems.
- Deliver a consistently high standard of customer service.
The Successful Candidate
- You will ideally have previous freight forwarding experience.
- Experience managing international import and export shipments.
- Knowledge of road, sea and air freight.
- Experience with deep-sea container movements, including FCL and LCL.
- A good understanding of customs procedures.
- Experience preparing or checking international shipping documentation.
- Confidence dealing with customers, shipping lines, carriers and overseas agents.
- Strong organisational and communication skills.
- The ability to manage multiple live shipments and changing priorities.
- Good attention to detail and commercial awareness.
- A proactive and solutions-focused approach.
- Experience using freight forwarding or customs systems such as CargoWise, Descartes, Destin8, CNS, Sequoia or similar would be advantageous.
