About the Role
We are looking for an experienced BPS Fitter / Installation Engineer to join a busy production and installation team. This is a hands-on role supporting the assembly, manufacture and installation of commercial pipework systems, packaged plantrooms, boiler skids and utility cupboard heating systems. The successful candidate will report to the Production Supervisor and will be confident working from schematic layouts and 3D assembly drawings. You will support high-quality mechanical pipework installation in a factory environment, with occasional work on client sites when required.
Key Responsibilities
- Assemble, manufacture and install commercial pipework systems, packaged plantrooms, boiler skids and utility cupboard heating systems.
- Read detailed schematic drawings and plan pipe systems and related equipment installations.
- Measure, mark, cut, thread and assemble pipework components and systems.
- Secure pipework using appropriate fixtures, brackets and clamps.
- Work with copper, screwed steel, press-fit and crimped pipework systems.
- Repair, maintain and support pipe systems, supports and associated equipment.
- Carry out strength and tightness testing on gas and water pipework in line with relevant codes and regulatory standards.
- Select and safely use hand tools, mechanical tools and equipment for fabrication, installation and repair work.
- Apply safe techniques for the temporary or permanent removal of pipework-related systems or components.
- Work effectively with others and contribute to positive working relationships within an engineering construction environment.
- Ensure all work complies with health and safety requirements, building regulations, company ISO procedures, CDM regulations, risk assessments, quality plans and departmental operating procedures.
Skills and Experience Required
- Time-served mechanical pipefitter, heating engineer or similar background.
- NVQ Level 3 in mechanical pipefitting, plumbing, heating or equivalent preferred.
- Minimum NVQ Level 2 in pipefitting or a relevant trade discipline.
- Working knowledge of commercial heating equipment including boilers, pumps, press units and expansion vessels.
- Experience installing commercial pipework systems using copper, screwed steel, press-fit or crimped methods.
- Ability to read and interpret schematic layouts and 3D assembly drawings.
- Good organisational, communication and interpersonal skills.
- CSCS card desirable but not essential.
