Field Service Engineer (CHP and Biogas Engines)

Location: Midlands

Salary: Up to £44,000 per annum plus overtime + excellent benefits

Job Type: Permanent

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Field Service Engineer to join a growing team supporting CHP and biogas engines within the renewable energy sector. This role offers the chance to work with cutting-edge technology in a thriving industry while developing your skills on a range of engine systems.

The position involves working on gas engines from 120kw to 3Mw, including Jenbacher, MWM and MAN units. You will carry out planned maintenance, servicing, and repairs as well as responding to breakdowns, diagnosing faults, and implementing effective solutions to minimise downtime. Your work will ensure that engines are operating efficiently and reliably, supporting critical green energy projects across the region.

This is a varied and rewarding role where you will need to work both independently and as part of a team. You will take ownership of maintenance and service schedules, complete accurate service reports, and participate in an on-call rota covering customer engines in your area.

Requirements:

• NVQ Level 2/3 in mechanical engineering or equivalent time-served experience

• Strong background in mechanical fault-finding, repair, and diagnostics

• Electrical experience including fault-finding on 24v dc engine control systems (up to 415v desirable)

• Experience with biogas engines, generators, power generation or large plant machinery

• Familiarity with control systems such as DIANE, COMAP, DEIF or TEM

• Computer literacy including Microsoft Word and Excel

• Full UK driving licence

• Gas Safe qualification desirable

• Effective problem solver with good communication skills

• Able to manage workload independently while working well in a team

• Capable of motivating and supporting colleagues when required

• Up to £44,000 basic salary plus overtime opportunities
