The Opportunity

We're working on behalf of a well-established international logistics business to appoint an experienced Commercial Manager who will play a key role in developing strategic customer relationships, identifying new business opportunities and delivering sustainable commercial growth. This is a home-based role offering a high degree of autonomy, regular regional travel and the opportunity to make a genuine commercial impact within a successful and growing organisation.
The Role
As Commercial Manager, you'll be responsible for identifying and securing new business opportunities while developing and growing existing customer relationships. Working collaboratively across the business, you'll understand customer requirements, develop commercially focused solutions and negotiate agreements that deliver long-term value. This is a consultative, relationship-led role suited to someone who enjoys building long-term partnerships, managing complex commercial opportunities and delivering sustainable business growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify, develop and secure new business opportunities.
- Manage and grow a portfolio of existing customer accounts.
- Build trusted relationships with key stakeholders and decision-makers.
- Understand customer requirements and develop commercially focused solutions.
- Prepare commercial proposals and negotiate commercial agreements.
- Work collaboratively with Operations, Customer Service and Finance to ensure successful delivery.
- Maintain an accurate sales pipeline and contribute to commercial growth objectives.
- Represent the business professionally across your region.
About You
You'll have experience as a Commercial Manager, Business Development Manager, National Account Manager, Strategic Account Manager or Key Account Manager, together with proven commercial experience within logistics, transport, supply chain, food or FMCG. Degree qualified in Business, Supply Chain, Logistics, Engineering or a related discipline (or equivalent commercial experience). You'll also demonstrate:
- Proven success in winning new business and developing key customer relationships.
- Strong commercial awareness and negotiation skills.
- A consultative, solutions-led approach to business development.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- The ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with colleagues.
- A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel regularly across Yorkshire and the North East.
