We are seeking an experienced Senior Designer with a strong background in aluminium systems and façade design to join a growing and technically driven business within the building envelope sector. This role will suit a design professional who can take ownership of projects from concept through to delivery, with a focus on technical excellence, buildability and compliance across façade systems.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design and coordination of aluminium façade systems, including curtain walling, windows, doors and bespoke glazing packages.
- Produce and review detailed technical drawings (2D/3D) using AutoCAD, Revit or similar.
- Develop designs from tender stage through to fabrication and installation.
- Liaise with architects, consultants, contractors and internal teams to ensure coordinated design outputs.
- Manage and review technical submissions, including calculations, specifications and material selections.
- Ensure all designs comply with relevant building regulations, CWCT standards and project requirements.
- Provide value engineering solutions while maintaining design integrity and performance.
- Support project teams during installation phases, resolving technical issues as required.
- Mentor and support junior designers, contributing to the development of the design function.
Skills
- Proven experience as a Designer / Senior Designer within façades or aluminium systems.
- Strong technical knowledge of curtain walling (stick & unitised systems), windows, doors and aluminium profiles, and rainscreen cladding / façade interfaces.
- Proficient in AutoCAD (Revit/BIM experience highly desirable).
- Good understanding of manufacturing processes and assembly details, site installation and sequencing, and current building regulations and façade compliance requirements.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
