Senior Quantity Surveyor / Commercial Manager Wirral / North West Salary: £65,000-£85,000 experience dependent, plus attractive benefits package Winsearch is proud to partner with a well-established and leading specialist envelope and roofing construction contractor in the North West. They are looking to appoint an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor or Commercial Manager to support a major long-term project in the North West. This role is a permanent position- when the project in question comes to a close, new work will be there to allow the role to continue.  This is a senior commercial role suited to someone with strong NEC contract experience and the ability to manage commercially complex construction packages from procurement through to final account.  The role will suit an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor who is ready to step into into a more senior role, or an existing Commercial Manager looking for a long-term opportunity with a stable and respected contractor.  The Role As Senior Quantity Surveyor / Commercial Manager, you will take commercial responsibility for a significant package of works, working closely with project teams, senior management, clients, subcontractors and suppliers. You will be involved across the full commercial lifecycle, including subcontract procurement, valuations, variations, compensation events, cost reporting, risk management and final accounts. This is a hands-on role where you will need to be comfortable working at project level while also contributing to wider commercial strategy. Duties will include: Managing the commercial performance of a major construction project Administering NEC contracts and ensuring contractual compliance Leading subcontractor procurement, negotiation and appointment Managing variations, compensation events and change control Preparing and reviewing valuations, payments and final accounts Producing accurate commercial reports, forecasts and cost analysis Identifying commercial risk and opportunity across the project Working closely with operational teams to protect commercial position Liaising with clients, consultants, subcontractors and internal stakeholders Supporting commercial strategy from early-stage procurement through to delivery Mentoring or supporting junior commercial staff where required Ensuring commercial records and documentation are accurate and auditable About you: You will need to have a strong background in Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management within the envelope or roofing sector. Our client is open to speaking with candidates from specialist subcontractor, main contractor or complex project backgrounds, providing you have strong NEC experience within the envelope or roofing sector and are confident managing commercial risk on high-value work. You will need: Experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor, Managing Quantity Surveyor or Commercial Manager Strong NEC contract experience Experience managing subcontract packages Good understanding of compensation events, variations and final accounts Ability to manage commercial activity on complex construction projects Strong negotiation, reporting and stakeholder management skills Confidence working with clients, subcontractors and internal delivery teams A practical, commercially aware approach Good attention to detail and strong contractual awareness Degree or equivalent qualification in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or a related subject would be beneficial Ability to meet project security requirements where required What's in it for you?
