We are recruiting for a Skilled Machinist to join a well‑established engineering and manufacturing business operating within a modern, high‑precision production environment. This is a structured site with a strong focus on quality, continuous improvement, and team collaboration, producing critical components within a fast‑paced setting.
The Role
- Reporting to the Production Team Leader, you will be responsible for setting and operating machining equipment within a designated production cell.
- Working as part of a team, you will ensure machines are set correctly, running efficiently, and meeting production and quality targets.
- Set and operate machining equipment for yourself and other operators within the cell.
- Carry out machining operations to meet production output and delivery targets.
- Identify and report tooling or equipment issues promptly.
- Maintain optimal machine performance and efficiency during production.
- Ensure consistent adherence to quality standards and procedures.
- Support 5S and TPM standards to maintain a clean and organised working environment.
- Assist in reducing scrap and rework through collaboration with quality teams.
- Work closely with manufacturing and maintenance teams to improve processes.
- Support and mentor apprentices and less experienced team members.
- Maintain a professional and proactive approach to work at all times.
- Follow all health & safety procedures and respond to any risks or hazards.
About You
- Engineering apprenticeship or equivalent qualification preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a machining or manufacturing environment.
- Experience with CNC machining or similar production machinery.
- Strong setting and problem‑solving skills.
- Good communication skills with the ability to work across departments.
- Ability to support training and development of others.
- Positive attitude with a strong work ethic and attention to detail.
