Our client is a leading specialist contractor operating within the building envelope sector, delivering cladding, façade refurbishment and fire remediation projects across commercial, public sector and residential markets. Due to continued growth, they are seeking an experienced Estimator (Facades) to join their Commercial team. This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded professional with strong rainscreen cladding and façade refurbishment experience to play a key role in securing and delivering high-profile projects across the UK.

Reporting to the Estimating Manager, you will be responsible for producing accurate, competitive tender submissions and cost plans for façade refurbishment and rainscreen cladding schemes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Estimating & Tendering
    • Prepare accurate cost estimates and tender submissions for façade refurbishment and rainscreen cladding projects.
    • Analyse drawings, specifications and survey information to determine material quantities, labour requirements and project costs.
    • Price a range of façade systems including ventilated cladding, overcladding, curtain walling and composite panel systems.
    • Review tender documentation, identify risks and opportunities, and propose value engineering solutions where appropriate.
    • Obtain and evaluate quotations from manufacturers, suppliers and subcontractors.
    • Produce detailed cost breakdowns and Bills of Quantities to support tender submissions.
  • Surveys & Technical Input
    • Undertake pre-tender and pre-contract surveys of existing buildings and façade systems.
    • Assess condition, substrates, fixing methods and refurbishment requirements.
    • Identify fire safety and compliance considerations that may impact project scope and cost.
    • Attend site visits, client meetings and design team meetings.
    • Liaise with architects, engineers, consultants and clients to clarify technical requirements and specifications.
Skills & Experience
  • Essential
    • Minimum 5 years' estimating experience within façades, rainscreen cladding, specialist envelope, roofing or related sectors.
    • Proven experience pricing refurbishment and overcladding projects.
    • Strong understanding of rainscreen cladding systems and façade products including aluminium cassette, brick slip, terracotta, fibre cement and composite panel systems.
    • Knowledge of Structural Framing Systems (SFS) such as Metsec, Sigmat or equivalent.
    • Ability to interpret architectural and structural drawings, specifications and survey reports.
    • Strong commercial awareness and numerical skills.
    • Experience using estimating software and Microsoft Excel.
    • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tenders simultaneously.
    • Strong communication and negotiation skills.
    • Full UK driving licence.
  • Desirable
    • Experience within fire remediation and post-Grenfell remediation programmes.
    • Knowledge of EWS1 processes and façade compliance requirements.
    • Familiarity with the Building Safety Act and higher-risk building regulations.
    • AutoCAD experience.
    • HNC/HND or Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management or a related discipline.
    • Professional membership (RICS, CIOB or equivalent).
    • Experience working with social housing providers, local authorities or NHS estates.
