The Role

We're recruiting on behalf of a well-established precision engineering business in Atherton that specialises in the manufacture of large, complex machined components for demanding industrial sectors. Due to continued growth and a strong order book, they are looking to add an experienced 5 Axis CNC Machinist to their manufacturing team. This is an excellent opportunity to join a modern machining environment working on large-format components where quality and precision are paramount.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set, operate and edit programmes on large-format 5-axis CNC machining centres
  • Manufacture precision components from engineering drawings and specifications
  • Machine a variety of materials to tight tolerances
  • Select and set tooling to achieve optimum performance and cycle times
  • Conduct in-process inspection using standard measuring equipment
  • Identify and resolve machining issues to maintain productivity and quality
  • Work closely with production and engineering teams to meet delivery targets
  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping and health & safety

What We're Looking For

  • Proven experience setting and operating 5-axis CNC machining centres
  • Experience machining large-format or heavy engineering components
  • Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings
  • Strong understanding of tooling, feeds, speeds and machining strategies
  • Experience working to tight tolerances and demanding quality standards
  • Self-motivated with a proactive approach to problem solving
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team

Desirable Experience

  • Heidenhain, Fanuc or Siemens controls
  • Aerospace, defence, energy or heavy engineering backgrounds
  • Experience with large structural or fabricated components
