Experienced AV Installation / Commissioning Engineer

Location: Manchester City Centre

Contract: 1–2-year contract, with potential to become a permanent role

Salary: Circa £35,000–£38,000 per annum, with potential flexibility for candidates with an extended skill set

We are recruiting for an experienced AV Installation / Commissioning Engineer to support large-scale projects, working primarily on-site in Manchester City Centre. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled AV professional with strong installation, commissioning and testing experience to join a busy project environment on a long-term contract basis.

The Role

As an AV Installation / Commissioning Engineer, you will be involved in the delivery of large AV projects, carrying out first and second fix installation work, structured cabling, testing, commissioning and quality checks. You will work from schematics and support the successful installation and handover of a range of AV systems and equipment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out first and second fix AV installation work on large-scale projects.
  • Install, terminate and test structured cabling, including Ethernet and fibre.
  • Work confidently from technical drawings, schematics and project documentation.
  • Install, commission and test AV equipment and systems.
  • Work with technologies such as HP Poly, Crestron, Extron, Televic and similar AV platforms.
  • Support system testing, fault finding and handover activities.
  • Maintain a strong focus on detail, quality and professional standards.
  • Communicate effectively with project teams, clients and other stakeholders on site.

About You

We are looking for a hands-on AV professional with strong installation and commissioning experience, excellent communication skills and a quality-focused approach to work.

Skills and Experience

  • Previous experience in AV installation and commissioning is essential.
  • Experience completing first and second fix work on large projects.
  • Structured cabling and testing experience, including Ethernet and fibre.
  • Ability to read and work from schematics and technical drawings.
  • Experience with AV technologies such as HP Poly, Crestron, Extron, Televic or similar.
  • Strong communication skills and a professional approach on site.
  • High attention to detail with a focus on quality and accuracy.
  • Project or team lead experience would be beneficial.
  • Additional skills such as AV support/configuration, project management qualifications or AutoCAD experience would be advantageous and may support a higher salary.

Long-term 1–2-year contract opportunity. Potential for the role to become permanent. Primarily site-based work in Manchester City Centre. Salary in the region of £35,000–£38,000 per annum.
