Reporting to Stores Manager, we’re expanding our team due to continued success and exciting new developments. This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a dynamic, forward-thinking company where skills and ideas will make a real impact.

PRIMARY ROLE

As a member of the Stores Department, the Stores Operative will contribute to the overall success and direction of the company. The focus will be managing the receipt of raw materials and finished goods, storage of raw materials and finished goods, and the dispatch of finished goods to the customer under strict timescales to ensure customer needs are met.

The main focus will be supplying other departments and our customers the correct parts, on time, to the correct quality whilst maximising operational margins to the business, ensuring the goods and services supplied to customers are in line with expectations, controlled appropriately, and in conformance with customer requirements.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Liaise with the Department Managers, the Production Manager, external storage providers and colleagues to maximise efficiency.
  • Report items on the appropriate IT system on a daily basis.
  • Complete all required paperwork.
  • Report issues to the Storage Manager.
  • Receive incoming goods, ensuring correct quantities against purchase orders and dispatch notes.
  • Book incoming goods on the M3 system, ensuring that quantities and locations are correctly recorded.
  • Store raw material in the appropriate storage areas, ensuring that materials are stored safely.
  • Issue raw material to appropriate departments, ensuring that issued materials are booked out correctly on the M3 system.
  • Receive finished goods from production departments, ensuring that the quantities are recorded on the M3 system correctly.
  • Pack finished goods for dispatch to customers, ensuring that the quantities packed are in accordance with customer wishes.
  • Dispatch finished goods by company vehicle, courier, or other means, ensuring that the goods are booked out on the M3 system and a signature is received for the dispatch.
  • Use forklifts, hand carts, or pallet jacks to load, unload, move, stack, and arrange merchandise accordingly.
  • Store finished goods safely, ensuring all locations are up to date and accurate.
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment, ensuring adherence to Health and Safety Policy.

  • Support and work diligently towards the Company’s goals.
  • Carry out duties in accordance with the Company’s Terms and Conditions of Employment.
  • Work to deadlines and plan, organise, and prioritise own work activities to satisfy customer expectations.
  • Be committed to the Company’s ethos of customer care.
  • Be honest, respectful of all employees and customers, and adhere to the Company’s Equality and Diversity Policy.
  • Ensure compliance with appropriate legislation and carry out duties in accordance with the Company’s Health and Safety Policy.
  • Develop effective working relationships with all levels of staff and customers.
  • Carry out any other reasonable tasks as instructed by the Operations Director or the Senior Management Team.

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS

  • Demonstrated ability to operate effectively both autonomously and within a team environment.
  • Well-developed communication skills, including verbal, written, and email correspondence.
  • Proficiency in computer applications and familiarity with multiple software systems.
  • Forklift licence and/or relevant operating experience (desirable, not mandatory).
  • Exceptional accuracy in reporting, stock checking, and documentation of storage locations.
  • Strong attention to detail when inspecting incoming goods and conducting final dispatch checks.
  • Highly organised, with the capacity to manage workload and proactively plan for future requirements.
  • Sound understanding of HSE standards and ability to apply safe work practices.

KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS

  • Inventory Accuracy – Measures the degree to which the inventory data matches the actual physical inventory.
  • Order Fulfilment Rate – Assesses the percentage of customer orders that are fulfilled completely and on time.
  • Picking Accuracy – Measures the accuracy of the picking and packing process indicating how many items are picked and packed correctly and safely.
  • Receiving Efficiency – Evaluates how effectively items are received and inspected upon arrival at the site and booked in within our deadlines.
