Our client is looking to hire a Metal Cutting Operative to work in their factory. The role involves the cutting, folding, drilling and deburring of metal prior to fabrication. The role may also include elements of stainless-steel metal finishing and packaging of finished products ready for dispatch. This position would suit an active person who is looking for some variety in a hands-on position.
The ideal candidate will have experience in a similar role, particularly in the use of band saws, pillar drills, grinders, CNC machines, etc. The candidate must be happy to work hard in a hands-on mechanical environment and be able to listen and learn about work tasks.
Main tasks:- Cutting, drilling, shaping and deburring metal components prior to fabrication.
- Folding sheet metal using a three-axis CNC brake press (in-house training provided).
- Bending stainless-steel tube using a CNC pipe bender (in-house training provided).
- Sorting and booking in batches of laser-cut metal parts upon delivery from the supplier.
- Carrying out stainless-steel metal finishing tasks using in-house machinery (i.e. TIG brush etching and vibratory polishing).
- Packaging finished machines on wooden pallets including making wooden crates.
- Putting together sub-assemblies for use in the production of machines.
- Ability to listen and learn about new job tasks.
- Accuracy when cutting and preparing metal components.
- High attention to detail in all work activities.
- Ability to perform consistently and to deadlines with the right attitude.
- Tidy, polite and professional approach to work.
- Qualifications in mechanical fields are desirable but not required.
- Driving licence required.
Our client is a small, innovative company manufacturing specialist high-quality drum handling equipment. They supply equipment to industries including Paint, Chemical, Pharmaceutical and Food. They manufacture in steel and stainless steel with lifting capacities ranging from 20kg to 2000kg.
Hourly rate: £12.50 to £14.00 per hour depending upon experienceStart date: As soon as practicable
Hours: 40 hour working week, overtime available at times
Overtime: 1.5 x hourly rate
Holiday: 28 days inclusive of
