Our client is a forward-thinking engineering and manufacturing company based in Helston, Cornwall. They specialise in delivering high quality, bespoke solutions for their customers across multiple sectors. They are looking for a talented Design Engineer to join a growing team.
Role Overview
You will play a key role in developing and delivering innovative designs from concept through to production. You will collaborate closely with colleagues in manufacturing, project management, and quality assurance to ensure products meet client specifications, industry standards, and their high internal benchmarks.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop 2D and 3D CAD designs and models for a variety of engineering projects.
- Translate customer requirements and project briefs into practical, cost-effective solutions.
- Work with manufacturing teams to ensure designs are optimised for production.
- Produce and maintain technical drawings, documentation, and bills of materials.
- Support prototype development and testing, making design adjustments where necessary.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the design function.
- Liaise with suppliers, clients, and internal teams to resolve design challenges.
Skills & Experience
- Degree or HND in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, or a related discipline.
- Strong proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar).
- Practical knowledge of manufacturing processes, materials, and engineering principles.
- Problem-solving mindset with attention to detail and creativity.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively.
- Previous experience in a design engineering role within manufacturing or product development is desirable.
