Area Manager Location: Stafford Salary: Up to £45k DOE Job Type: Permanent, Full-Time The Opportunity We are recruiting on behalf of our client, a Midlands-based property maintenance and refurbishment provider, for an experienced Area Manager to join their team in Stoke-on-Trent. The role will involve overseeing the day-to-day delivery of responsive repairs and maintenance across a designated area. You will be responsible for managing operatives and subcontractors, monitoring performance, ensuring work is completed to a high standard and maintaining positive relationships with clients. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in social housing or property maintenance, with experience managing frontline teams and overseeing operational delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee the day-to-day delivery of responsive repairs and maintenance across the designated area. Manage and support operatives and subcontractors, ensuring work is completed efficiently and to the required standard. Monitor team productivity, performance and quality, ensuring targets and deadlines are achieved. Carry out regular site visits and inspections to review completed works and identify areas for improvement. Liaise with clients, planners and administration teams to ensure a smooth workflow and effective service delivery.
Monitor job progress, variations and completed works, ensuring accuracy and value for money. Support the coordination of labour and resources to meet operational demands. Ensure all works comply with Health & Safety legislation, RAMS and relevant quality standards. Conduct toolbox talks, site inspections and performance reviews where required. Deal with operational issues and support Supervisors in resolving day-to-day challenges. Build and maintain positive working relationships with clients, residents and colleagues. Identify opportunities to improve productivity, quality and overall service delivery.
Requirements
Previous experience as an Area Manager, Supervisor, Site Manager or similar within social housing or property maintenance. Experience managing operatives, subcontractors or frontline maintenance teams. Good understanding of responsive repairs and maintenance operations. Ability to monitor team performance and ensure work is completed to agreed targets. Strong communication and organisational skills. Good understanding of Health & Safety, RAMS and compliance procedures.
Confident dealing with clients, residents and operational teams. IT proficiency, including Microsoft Office and mobile work management systems. CSCS card, with SSSTS, SMSTS and/or IOSH Managing Safely preferred. Full UK driving licence. What's on Offer? Salary of up to £45,000 depending on experience.
