Our client is a well-established, family-owned business operating within the specialist metals sector, supplying high-value materials to the aerospace and industrial gas turbine industries. Working with UK and international customers, the business plays an important role in the recycling, reprocessing, and supply of specialist alloys used in the manufacture of critical engineered components. Due to continued growth, they are now seeking a Maintenance Engineer to join their team.

We are looking for a hands-on Maintenance Engineer to join a busy processing facility. This is a varied role combining site maintenance, equipment upkeep, and operational support within a specialist manufacturing environment. You will play a key role in ensuring equipment reliability, maintaining a safe working environment, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives across the site.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carrying out planned and reactive maintenance across site facilities and equipment
  • Inspecting and maintaining electrical systems within the building
  • Maintaining processing equipment to minimise downtime
  • Working closely with the maintenance team to ensure consumables and spare parts stock levels are maintained
  • Recording maintenance activities and equipment history
  • Identifying and implementing improvements to equipment and processes
  • Supporting site operations, including:
    • Loading and unloading containers
    • Sorting and preparing materials for processing and dispatch
    • Operating equipment such as plasma cutters, shot blasting machinery, and shears
  • Maintaining a clean, safe, and organised working environment
  • Supporting ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and Health & Safety standards across the site

What We're Looking For

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Previous maintenance experience within an engineering, manufacturing, or industrial environment
  • Ability to carry out both mechanical and basic electrical maintenance
  • Proactive and practical approach to problem solving
  • Strong fault-finding and maintenance skills

Desirable Experience

  • Experience working with processing equipment or heavy plant machinery
  • Knowledge of maintenance planning and record keeping systems
  • FLT (Forklift Truck) or materials handling experience
  • Experience within metal processing or recycling environments

Personal Attributes

  • Reliable and self-motivated
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Practical, adaptable, and willing to support across different departments
  • Excellent awareness of Health & Safety requirements

Salary & Benefits

£40,000 - £42,000 per annum (depending on experience). Overtime opportunities available. Quarterly and annual bonus schemes. Private healthcare. Life insurance. On-site gym facilities. Holiday reward scheme.

Working Hours

37 hours per week. Monday - Thursday: 7:00am - 3:00pm or 8:00am - 4:00pm. Friday: 6:00am - 1:30pm or 7:00am - 2:30pm (All shifts include a 30-minute unpaid break). Flexibility may be required to meet business needs.
