YARD SHUNTERS – NIGHT SHIFT ONLY Location: Coventry, CV8 3EE Shift: Night shifts only Pay: £20.00 per hour Including holiday pay: £22.41 per hour Experience: Previous shunting experience required We are currently recruiting experienced Yard Shunters to join our team in Coventry. This is a night-shift-only position for reliable, safety-conscious drivers who are confident manoeuvring HGVs around a busy yard. The Role As a Yard Shunter, your main responsibility will be to safely move and position trailers and vehicles around the depot, ensuring the yard operates efficiently throughout the night. Key Responsibilities Safely shunt HGV trailers and vehicles around the yard. Move trailers between loading bays, parking areas and designated locations. Couple and uncouple trailers safely when required. Carry out vehicle and trailer checks before moving vehicles. Follow site traffic management procedures and yard instructions. Ensure vehicles are correctly positioned and ready for loading/unloading. Communicate effectively with the transport and warehouse teams. Maintain high standards of safety at all times. Report any vehicle defects, damage or safety concerns immediately. Keep the yard organised and operate efficiently during the night shift. Requirements Previous Yard Shunter experience is essential. Valid HGV Class 1 (C+E) licence. Good understanding of trailer movements and yard operations. Experience coupling and uncoupling trailers. Good reversing and manoeuvring skills. Strong awareness of vehicle and pedestrian safety. Reliable, punctual and professional approach to work. Ability to work independently during night shifts. Good communication skills. Willingness to follow company/site procedures. Right to work in the UK. Pay
