Handyman

Location: Ipswich
Pay Rate: Β£14.50 per hour PAYE
Contract: Temporary – 3 months

About the Role

We are currently recruiting on behalf of our client for a Handyman to join their facilities team in Ipswich on a temporary 3-month contract.

This is a hands-on role focused on the general upkeep, presentation and maintenance of the building. The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out a range of fabric maintenance tasks, including painting and decorating, basic carpentry and general repairs, ensuring the building remains safe, functional and well presented.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out general fabric maintenance and upkeep across the building.
  • Complete painting and decorating works to a high standard.
  • Undertake basic carpentry and joinery repairs.
  • Carry out minor repairs and remedial works as required.
  • Maintain walls, doors, fixtures, fittings and other elements of the building fabric.
  • Identify defects and report any issues requiring further attention.
  • Assist with maintaining the overall appearance and presentation of the site.
  • Complete general maintenance and upkeep tasks as directed by the Facilities Manager.
  • Ensure all works are carried out safely and in accordance with relevant Health & Safety procedures.
  • Keep work areas clean, tidy and safe at all times.
  • Respond to maintenance requests and complete tasks within agreed timescales.
  • Work professionally and courteously while on site.

About You

The ideal candidate will have previous experience in a fabric maintenance, building maintenance, handyman or facilities role and be confident carrying out practical maintenance tasks independently.

You will ideally have:

  • Experience in painting and decorating.
  • Basic carpentry/joinery skills.
  • Experience carrying out general building maintenance and repairs.
  • A good eye for detail and pride in the quality of your work.
  • A proactive approach to identifying and resolving maintenance issues.
  • Good Health & Safety awareness.
  • The ability to work independently and manage your workload effectively. xgikmsk
