Engineering Service Manager
Location: Sheffield, S20
Salary: £48,000 - £52,000 per annum DOE
Hours: Monday-Friday
Type: Permanent
The Role
We are looking for an experienced Engineering Service Manager to lead and support a team of engineers, ensuring customers receive a high-quality, responsive and efficient service.
This is a key management position where you will oversee the day-to-day service operation, coordinate engineers and field-based activities, and ensure installations, servicing, maintenance and repairs are completed safely and to a high standard.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, manage and support a team of service engineers.
- Plan and coordinate engineer workloads, installations, servicing and breakdowns.
- Allocate jobs and manage engineer schedules to meet customer requirements.
- Act as a key point of contact for customers regarding service and engineering issues.
- Monitor response times, job completion and overall service performance.
- Provide technical support and guidance to engineers where required.
- Deal with breakdowns, faults and escalated technical issues.
- Ensure engineers have the correct tools, equipment and parts to complete their work.
- Manage spare parts and liaise with suppliers where required.
- Ensure all work is completed in line with company procedures and health & safety requirements.
- Monitor service costs and identify opportunities to improve efficiency.
- Support the recruitment, training and development of service engineers.
- Work closely with sales, operations and engineering teams.
- Maintain accurate service records and produce regular performance reports.
- Visit customer sites when required to support engineers or deal with technical issues.
- Help develop and improve service processes and customer satisfaction.
About You
We are looking for someone with a strong engineering background who has progressed into a service, supervisory or management position.
You will ideally have:
- Previous experience managing or supervising engineers.
- A strong mechanical or electrical engineering background.
- Experience within a field service, maintenance or engineering environment.
- Excellent problem-solving and fault-finding skills.
- Good organisational and planning skills.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- The ability to manage multiple priorities in a busy environment.
- Experience coordinating engineers and service schedules.
- A proactive approach with the ability to make decisions under pressure.
- Good commercial awareness and an understanding of service costs.
- A full UK driving licence.
