Early Years Practitioner (EYP) Location: Camden, London Pay Rate: £16.00 per hour PAYE Start Date: ASAP / September 2026 Working Pattern: Monday to Friday, Full-Time Minimum Qualification: Level 2 Childcare Qualification We are currently recruiting Early Years Practitioners (EYPs) to join Camden Council, supporting children within busy and welcoming early years settings across the borough. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Nursery Practitioner, Early Years Practitioner or Childcare Assistant who is passionate about supporting children's learning, development and wellbeing. The successful candidate will work as part of an established early years team, providing high-quality care and creating a safe, inclusive and stimulating environment where children are encouraged to develop their confidence, independence, communication and social skills. Key Responsibilities * Provide high-quality care, supervision and support to children within an early years setting. * Support children's learning and development through structured activities and play-based learning. * Create a safe, welcoming, stimulating and inclusive environment. * Support children's emotional, social, physical and educational development. * Encourage children's communication, confidence, creativity and independence. * Observe children's development and contribute to appropriate records and progress updates. * Build positive and professional relationships with children, parents, carers and colleagues. * Support children with their individual needs and daily routines. * Assist with activities, mealtimes, personal care and transitions where required. * Follow safeguarding, health and safety and child protection procedures at all times. * Work collaboratively with colleagues and the wider early years team to achieve positive outcomes for children. Essential Requirements To be considered for this position, you must have: * Minimum Level 2 Childcare/Early Years qualification. * Previous experience working within a nursery, children's centre, early years, childcare or education setting. * Good understanding of children's learning and development. * Knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and child protection. * Ability to engage positively with children and respond to their individual needs. * Strong communication and teamwork skills. * A caring, patient, reliable and professional approach. * Availability to work Monday to Friday during term time. Desirable * Level 3 Childcare/Early Years qualification. * Previous experience within a Local Authority nursery, children's centre or early years provision. * Good knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework. * Experience observing and recording children's learning and developmental progress Ideal Candidate We are particularly interested in candidates who are passionate about working with children and can demonstrate a genuine commitment to supporting their development.
