About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role in supporting the educational achievement and personal development of our pupils. As an HLTA, you will complement the work of teachers by delivering whole-class learning, fostering independence, and promoting inclusion. Your contribution will help ensure that all pupils make excellent progress and experience a sense of achievement.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver whole-class teaching as required, ensuring high-quality learning experiences for all pupils.
- Support class teachers in raising the learning and attainment of pupils, including those with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).
- Promote inclusion by encouraging participation in learning and extracurricular activities.
- Use effective behaviour management strategies to maintain a calm and safe learning environment.
- Observe and assess pupil performance, providing accurate feedback to teachers.
- Prepare classrooms for lessons and organise resources to create a stimulating learning environment.
- Collaborate with colleagues and other professionals to support pupil progress and well-being.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of school policies and practices.
- Uphold the school’s ethos, values, and commitment to safeguarding children.
Requirements
- A relevant qualification such as a Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools or a Diploma in Childcare and Education (or a willingness to work towards one).
- Level 2 qualifications in English and maths.
- Experience working with children and leading teaching and learning activities.
- Strong literacy, numeracy, and ICT skills, with the ability to use ICT to support learning.
- Excellent organisational and communication skills.
- A commitment to safeguarding, equality, and promoting the welfare of children.
- Knowledge of effective teaching methods, the SEND Code of Practice, and statutory frameworks for the school curriculum.
- Personal qualities such as sensitivity, understanding, and a passion for working with children.
