About the Role
As the Director, Singapore (Retail), you will play a pivotal leadership role in driving the performance, growth, and strategic direction of Wine Connection’s retail business. You will oversee sales, operations, team development, and customer experience across all retail touchpoints, while also enhancing brand engagement through curated in-store experiences. This role requires a commercially astute and customer-focused leader with a strong passion for wine and hospitality, with the ability to translate strategy into execution across a multi-site retail network.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage all aspects of retail store operations across Singapore.
- Set and achieve sales, profitability, and customer experience KPIs.
- Develop and execute retail strategies aligned with brand positioning and business objectives.
- Oversee store layout, merchandising standards, and in-store promotions to drive sales and engagement.
- Collaborate closely with operational teams to strengthen retail presence within dining environments and ensure a seamless customer journey across channels.
- Conceptualise and drive experiential initiatives that enhance customer engagement, brand affinity, and in-store traffic.
- Take a proactive, hands-on approach in monitoring store and category performance, and continuously drive targeted initiatives to optimise results.
- Continuously refine product assortment and pricing in line with sales performance, customer insights, and market trends.
Financial & Performance Management
- Develop and manage budgets, forecasts, and P&Ls for the retail business.
- Monitor financial performance and implement corrective actions where necessary.
- Identify opportunities to streamline operations and improve cost-efficiency.
- Drive key commercial metrics including sales per square foot, basket size, and stock productivity.
Team Leadership & Development
- Lead, coach, and develop store teams and retail managers to deliver consistent execution and service excellence.
- Build a strong performance culture with clear accountability and regular performance reviews.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in business, retail management, or a related field.
- 8–12 years of senior leadership experience in retail or FMCG, preferably within the wine, food & beverage, or luxury goods sectors.
- Proven track record in managing multi-site retail operations.
- Strong commercial acumen and P&L management experience.
- Excellent leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Strategic thinker with the ability to execute operational plans effectively.
- Passion for wine and hospitality; WSET certification is a plus.
