We are seeking a Front of House Supervisor for our wine bar who shares our passion for exceptional wine and outstanding hospitality. In this role, you\’ll lead by example — ensuring smooth service, supporting and motivating the team, and helping to create an atmosphere where guests can truly relax and enjoy themselves, creating a memorable and refined guest experience. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, a solid knowledge of wines and wine service, and a customer-first approach. You will support daily operations, ensure high standards of service, and assist in managing the team to drive both quality and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities: Leadership & Team Management
- Supervise, train, and support front-of-house staff, including bartenders and servers.
- Assist in scheduling shifts, managing staff breaks, and ensuring adequate floor coverage.
- Lead by example during service, maintaining a positive and professional atmosphere.
Customer Service & Guest Experience
- Provide exceptional customer service by engaging with guests and resolving any issues or complaints promptly.
- Ensure guests receive knowledgeable recommendations and wine pairings tailored to their preferences.
- Uphold and enhance the bar\’s ambiance and service standards. Attention to detail is key.
Bar & Floor Operations
- Oversee daily operations of the wine bar, ensuring smooth and efficient service.
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the bar, dining room, and service areas.
- Monitor stock levels and assist with ordering/restocking as needed.
- Ensure all equipment is maintained and operational; report any maintenance issues.
Product Knowledge & Sales
- Maintain a strong knowledge of the wine list, cocktails, and food menu.
- Train team members on wine service, tasting notes, and proper presentation.
- Promote upselling and ensure staff are maximising sales opportunities.
Compliance & Safety
- Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations, including food handling and alcohol service laws.
- Monitor staff adherence to responsible alcohol service practices.
Reporting & Administration
- Assist with inventory tracking and reporting.
- Manage cash handling, closing procedures, and daily reports as assigned.
- Support the Manager with any administrative tasks when needed.
Qualifications:
- Previous supervisory experience in a bar, restaurant, or wine-focused environment.
- Wine knowledge and a passion for hospitality.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organisational skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle pressure during peak hours.
- Certification in wine (WSET 2, Court of Master Sommeliers, or equivalent) is highly recommended.
