About the Role:
We are looking for a Transport Planner to join our fantastic team. As part of the operations department, you will:
- Daily routing/planning of the vehicle/driver schedules
- Record, action and report breakdowns accordingly
- Provide instructions and guidance to drivers and assist with resolving any issues. Act as a point of contact for drivers to aid communication between drivers and transport management including daily check ins.
- With the Operations / Transport Manager, monitor infringements and agree debriefs and actions to address these
- Monitor driver efficiency via telematics and arrange training or other activity to address poor or low performance
- Out of hours telephone cover, split between Transport Manager and Transport Planner, evenings/weekends
- With the Operations / Transport Manager, review driver training, liaise with HR/Business Services to book courses required and ensure attendance (CPC/FORS) and assistance with relevant transport accreditations
- ADR Audits
- Ensure the yard, transfer station and warehouse is kept tidy, secure and safe making optimal use of space. Carry out weekly yard and transfer station inspections and oversee any actions arising to include Rainwater Discharge. Liaise with Business Services for anything that needs to be rectified.
- Maintaining the stock of PPE, ordering when required for new starters and other departments/needs.
- Maintain the schedule and tracking log of containers, repairs and maintenance
Skills & Experience Required:
- An understanding and/or experience of waste transport operations is desirable
- Experience in managing a fast-paced administration function in a high-pressure environment
- A very personable 'can do' attitude
- Demonstrates initiative and the ability to multi-task
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- PC literate with excellent working knowledge of IT systems, Microsoft Office suite
- HGV Class 1 would be useful
- ADR would be useful
- FORS knowledge and experience
