National Recognition! Windsor Olympus Academy Wins Prestigious Silver Teaching Award for Transformative Partnerships
Today is a day of immense pride for everyone at Windsor Olympus Academy!
We\’re thrilled to announce that our school has been awarded aSilver Award for School or College Partnership of the Year in this year\’s Pearson National Teaching Awards.
This national honour, chosen from thousands of nominees across the country, puts us in the running for the prestigious Gold Award, which will be announced at a national ceremony in London and broadcast on BBC One’s The One Show later this year.
At Windsor Olympus Academy, we are a thriving community where staff, students, families, and local partners truly Thrive Together. Our shared purpose is to unlock the academic and personal potential of every student, and this award is a powerful affirmation of that commitment.
The award specifically celebrates our deep and long-standing partnership with the Newbigin Community Trust. This incredible collaboration has led to the co-creation of our on-site Community Hub and Eco Hub, which now provide critical support, connection, and opportunity to hundreds of local families. From summer schemes and sustainability projects to advocacy services and well-being workshops, our school stands at the heart of our community. Since January 2024 alone, the Hub has supported over 700 individual advocacy appointments, hosted vital workshops, and welcomed countless young people and families from across the neighbourhood. Our work with Newbigin – and other fantastic partners like Warm Earth and Wyre Forest Community Land Trust – truly shows how a school can lead the way in building strong, resilient communities.
This announcement coincides with National Thank a Teacher Day, a nationwide celebration of the educators and schools transforming lives across the UK. It\’s a perfect day to reflect on the impact we make together.
What our Headteacher says:
Sally-Jo Wilkinson, Headteacher at Windsor Olympus Academy, said: \”We are absolutely thrilled and immensely proud to receive this national recognition. It is a powerful affirmation of our core purpose, \’Thriving Together\’. It is a testament to our dedicated staff, our wonderful students, and our partners, who all share our vision of unlocking the academic and personal potential in every child.\”
Celebrating Education\’s Impact:
This award joins a chorus of national recognition, with leading figures sharing their praise for educators across the UK:
Sir Michael Morpurgo, President of the Teaching Awards Trust, said: “The dedication and impact of those involved in educating young people is truly remarkable… Your passion and commitment to shaping the next generation is extraordinary. Thank you for the difference you make every single day.”
Sharon Hague, CEO of Pearson UK, said: “Every day, educators across the UK go above and beyond to inspire, support, and shape the future generation. Today, we proudly recognise those making an extraordinary impact. Our Silver Award winners represent the very best of the profession.”
Bridget Phillipson, Secretary of State for Education, said: “Brilliant teachers make the single biggest difference to a child’s education. They don’t just deliver lessons – they transform lives… For this incredible commitment to our nation\’s future, we owe our teachers our deepest gratitude.\”
