JobPurpose



  • To work within the ethos of the NurserySchool, through providing a child centred environment which is warm,welcoming and stimulating, where all children and adults feel valued andare able to reach to their full potential.

  • To assist in meeting the individuallearning and development needs of all children, through providing play andlearning opportunities and maintaining high standards of care and nurtureat all times.

  • To ensure the overall well-being of allthe children and families accessing the Nursery School, including thosewith SEND, English as an additional language and/or safeguarding needs.

  • To provide a courteous positive role modelat all times, demonstrating commitment to inclusion to children, families,students, visitors and those from the local community.

  • To provide support to fellow practitionersin day to day practice.


Dutiesand Responsibilities;


Supportfor Children



  • To fulfil key person responsibilities asrequired.

  • To nurture positive relationships withchildren ensuring their emotional well being and promoting theirconfidence and self esteem.

  • To assist with the development of learningopportunities and care that reflects the child’s individuality.

  • To assist in the supervision of childrenin an inclusive manner, ensuring their safety and access to learningactivities.

  • To share responsibility of creating aprovision in which all children can interact and develop fully throughplay.

  • To share responsibility with fellowpractitioners in observation, assessment, monitoring and record keeping ofchildren’s learning experiences and development using a variety ofmethods, to inform planning.


Supportfor Care Routines



  • To support children in learning anddeveloping skills in personal hygiene.

  • To take part in all aspects of children’sdaily routines such as toileting, clothes and nappy changing, snackpreparation, dressing for outdoors and undressing and cleaning.

  • To care for unwell and hurt children,providing First Aid treatment as appropriate.

  • To assist in the maintenance of a clean,healthy and organised environment.

  • To aid in the implementation of policiesrelating to the health, safety and protection of children.

  • To carry out regular risk assessments,ensuring equipment and environment is safe at all times.

  • To aid in the support of settling in / transitionperiods for all children and their families, ensuring continuity oflearning.

  • To carry out a variety of tasks respondingto the individual needs of the children.

  • To assist in the preparation of materialsand equipment.


Supportfor Early Years Foundation Stage



  • Under supervision to assist in providinglearning opportunities and experiences within the Early Years FoundationStage framework in both the indoor and outdoor learning environments.

  • Under supervision to work within the EarlyYears Foundation Stage requirements, and interpret the guidance to meetthe differentiated learning needs of individual children.

  • With direction, to understand and integrateindoor and outdoor areas / activities, in a way that promotes exploration,play and learning.

  • To have an understanding of and assisting WindsorNursery School in exceeding the Ofsted Standards.

  • To assist in maintaining relevant records upto date, ensuring high standards of accuracy.


Supportfor fellow Practitioners



  • To work with fellow practitioners increating and maintaining a purposeful indoor and outdoor environment whichsupports the delivery of play and learning experiences for all childrenattending Windsor Nursery School

  • To share responsibility with fellowpractitioners in monitoring children’s experiences and achievements andidentifying difficulties.

  • To assist in the identification of childprotection issues, by reporting to the appropriate identified person.

  • To accompany fellow practitioners on homevisits to meet children and their families where appropriate.

  • To develop positive working relationshipswith fellow practitioners through working co-operatively within a team.


Supportfor Parents and Carers



  • To ensure a warm, welcoming and valuing approachto parents / carers that encourages their participation and involvement inthe Nursery School.

  • To develop positive enabling relationshipswith parents / carers, with sensitivity to their range of individualneeds.

  • Recognise and have due respect for therole of parents / carers as the child’s first and most enduring educator.

  • To support parents / carers in a partnership that develops their engagement in their child’s learning.

  • To hold an adaptable manner in order tomeet the needs of the changing community.


Supportfor the School



  • To have an understanding of Windsor NurserySchool’s purpose and ethos.

  • To foster an environment that values andrespects each person’s racial origin, religious cultural and linguisticbackground, gender and ability.

  • To understand and work in accordance to theagreed aims, objectives, policies and procedures at Windsor NurserySchool.

  • To contribute to the development,implementation and review of Windsor Nursery School’s improvement plan,self-evaluation, policies and procedures.

  • Where appropriate to liaise with and supportother professionals, on behalf of the Nursery School, such as StrengtheningFamily Workers, Health Visitors, Early Years and the Special Needs EarlyYears Team.

  • To promote and represent the NurserySchool at appropriate events, such as training, conferences and seminars.


PersonalResponsibilities



  • To embrace a commitment to the NurserySchool and its ethos.

  • To work in a flexible way that supportsthe delivery of services at the Nursery School.

  • To ensure duties are undertaken in apositive manner in respect of equal opportunities and within amulticultural approach.

  • To maintain confidentiality at all times,in accordance to the UK General Data Protection Regulation and Windsor NurserySchool’s Information Governance policies.

  • To be prepared to share personal strengthswith other team members as appropriate.


Supervision/ Professional Development



  • To fully engage in opportunities to deepenknowledge in child development.

  • To undertake relevant childcare trainingat level 3.

  • To ensure relevant training such as PaediatricFirst Aid, Child Protection and priority curriculum improvement areatraining is attended.

  • To attend regular supervisions with the relevantline manager.

  • To attend and participate in relevantmeetings as required (this maybe outside of 'normal' working hours).

  • To ensure necessary skills and knowledgeare kept up to date.

  • To keep up to date on current researchthat supports young children’s learning, health and holistic development.

  • To support reflective practice andresearch as a means to effective learning and teaching.


General



  • To undertake such other duties, which mayreasonably be regarded as within the nature of the duties / responsibilitiesand grade of the post.

  • To support activities taking place withinthe Nursery School and assist in the provision of educational visits.

  • The post holder must undertake theirduties in a way that’s secures positive action in respect of equalopportunities and an inclusive and multi cultural approach.

  • The post holder must comply with the WindsorNursery Policies and ConnectEd, City of Wolverhampton Council’s Policiesas adopted by the Governing Board.
