Windsor Forest Colleges Group is looking for a Mechanic to join our Berkshire College of Agriculture Estates team on a permanent, full-time basis working 40 hours per week.
Responsibilities:
- Service, maintain, and repair agricultural and horticultural equipment, ensuring machinery such as tractors and mowers support the college's educational activities.
- Maintain service records, diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues, and engage in welding and fabrication of components for college infrastructure.
- Order parts, manage fuel supplies, and waste materials in adherence to regulations.
- Collaborate with external contractors to maintain operational standards.
- Mentor apprentices or students on work placements and support curriculum departments with equipment demonstrations and projects.
- Prepare for public and promotional events, operate vehicles for the Estates department, and ensure the workshop and yard adhere to safety and security guidelines.
- Maintain the COSHH register for workshop materials.
- Promote a discrimination-free environment and safeguard student welfare, aligning with the Group's values and responsibilities.
Qualifications:
- Essential: Qualifications in agricultural or mechanical engineering, with experience in maintaining agricultural and horticultural machinery.
- Essential: Knowledge of engine, hydraulic, and electrical systems; fault-finding efficiency; sound communication and organizational abilities; practical, methodical approach.
- Desirable: Certifications in welding, tractor driving, and telehandler operations.
