Rivers Primary Academy is a forward-thinking, inclusive school committed to providing a safe and nurturing environment for all of our children. We are seeking to appoint a highly motivated and experienced individual to join our team as the Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (DDSL) to support the safeguarding and welfare of all children.
Key Details
- Grade 4 SCP 12-16
- 5 days per week (with the possibility of 4 days per week if desired)
- 37 hours per week (5 days) or 29 hours per week (4 days)
- Actual Salary £24,927.50 - £26,601.10 (5 days per week)

Responsibilities
- Assist the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) in promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young people.
- Support with the management of safeguarding concerns, ensuring that any issues are addressed swiftly and in line with school policies.
- Provide advice and guidance to staff on safeguarding issues, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements.
- Maintain accurate records of safeguarding concerns, referrals, and actions taken.
- Liaise with external agencies, such as social services and the police, where appropriate.
- Ensure that safeguarding training is up-to-date for all staff.
- Monitor the progress of students who have safeguarding concerns, ensuring their safety and wellbeing.
- Support the DSL in carrying out risk assessments and reviewing safeguarding practices.
The Ideal Candidate
- Strong understanding of safeguarding legislation, including Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE).
- Experience working in a safeguarding role within a school setting.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive situations with discretion and empathy.
- A proactive and solutions-focused approach to problem-solving.
- A commitment to the highest standards of safeguarding and student welfare.
