Role Description

This is a full-time Flight Test Engineer role based in Fareham, offered on a hybrid basis with some flexibility for remote work. The Flight Test Engineer will plan, prepare, and execute flight tests for the Windracers ULTRA platform, including defining test objectives, test points, and safety considerations. Responsibilities include instrumenting aircraft and ground systems, configuring data acquisition, and ensuring accurate calibration of sensors and avionics. The role involves conducting pre-flight checks, supporting flight operations, monitoring test data in real time, and leading post-flight data analysis to validate performance, safety, and reliability. The Flight Test Engineer will document results, produce test reports, support certification and regulatory compliance activities, and collaborate closely with aerospace, systems, and software engineering teams to resolve issues and drive continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • Strong Flight Test Engineering and Flight Test experience, including planning, execution, and reporting of flight test campaigns.
  • Hands-on experience with Aircraft systems and unmanned or autonomous aerial platforms.
  • Background in Aerospace Engineering with knowledge of aerodynamics, flight dynamics, propulsion, and avionics.
  • Systems Engineering skills, including requirements definition, system integration, verification, and validation.
  • Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Familiarity with aviation safety standards, regulatory frameworks, and risk assessment for flight operations.
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g., MATLAB, Python, or similar) and ability to interpret complex flight test data.
  • Effective communication, documentation, and collaboration skills, with the ability to work in multidisciplinary teams in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with UAVs, autonomous systems, or defense/humanitarian aviation operations is highly desirable.
