Windmill Lodge Care Home is a truly exceptional service, not just another care home. With capacity for 205 residents, it is the second-largest care home in the UK, situated on the beautiful coast of Lytham St Annes. Designed as a full care village, this service offers enormous scope to shape its future for the right leader.
We are now seeking an experienced Home Manager who is a commercially aware, and creatively minded leader ready to take full ownership of a large-scale service. Today, Windmill Lodge supports 66 residents. With your leadership, it can become a flagship home renowned for quality, culture, and reputation.
The Opportunity
This is a role for a leader who wants to make a real impact. You’ll balance:
- Clinical excellence and regulatory compliance.
- Strong operational and commercial performance.
- Team engagement and development.
- Reputation and stakeholder relationships.
You’ll work closely with the Regional Director and Group Quality Team, with the support and autonomy needed to deliver meaningful, sustainable outcomes for residents, families, and your team. Windmill Lodge is currently rated Requires Improvement by the CQC. The foundations are in place; the next phase requires a leader who can inspire confidence, build strong teams, and create a culture of excellence.
What You’ll Bring
- Proven success managing large-scale care services, ideally with experience of improving quality and operational performance.
- Strong commercial and marketing awareness, able to grow occupancy and sustain financial performance.
- Experience engaging with CQC, local authorities, and healthcare partners.
- A leadership style combining resilience, clarity, creativity, and empathy.
- Passion for people, residents, families, and your team.
- Ability to lead at scale, setting direction and empowering senior leaders beneath you.
Your Impact
As Home Manager at Windmill Lodge, you won’t just oversee a care home; you’ll shape the heartbeat of a community. You’ll take full operational and clinical leadership of this 205-bed care village, ensuring every resident receives care that is safe, compassionate, and consistently excellent. Your days will be spent building strong, trusting relationships with local authorities, commissioners, and healthcare partners, restoring confidence in the service and positioning Windmill Lodge as the provider of choice in the region.
You’ll lead a large, multidisciplinary team, inspiring pride, ownership, and accountability at every level. Through your guidance, the team will embrace a culture where compliance and compassion go hand in hand, and where innovation and operational excellence are part of everyday life. Your commercial acumen and creativity will drive occupancy growth and sustainable performance, while your strategic vision will shape the home’s reputation and future.
Every decision you make, every initiative you lead, will leave a lasting legacy not just for the organisation, but for the residents, families, and teams who call Windmill Lodge home. With your leadership, this care village will not only thrive; it will set a benchmark for what a large-scale, high-quality care service can achieve.
