The Nursery Manager role is a full-time, on-site position based at Windermere Nursery in Wembley. This is a term time only position (38 weeks a year), 9am-3pm and £16 an hour. The Nursery Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operation of the nursery, including staff supervision, room planning, and ensuring high-quality care and education for all children. Daily tasks include managing nursery policies and procedures, maintaining safeguarding and health and safety standards, monitoring children’s development, and ensuring regulatory compliance. The role also involves building positive relationships with families, coordinating admissions, managing records, and handling scheduling and resource allocation. The Nursery Manager will lead and support the team through regular communication, coaching, and performance reviews to maintain a welcoming, inclusive environment. Any job offers are subject to satisfactory referencing checks and there is a 6 month standard probation period.
Qualifications
- Strong safeguarding knowledge and practical experience, including Safeguarding and Safeguarding Children skills.
- Experience in Nursery and Nursery Management, with the ability to oversee daily operations and lead a team in an early years setting.
- Effective Communication skills for engaging with children, families, staff, and external agencies in a professional manner.
- Recognised early years or childcare qualification (e.g., Level 3 or above in Early Years Education/Childcare or equivalent).
- Demonstrated understanding of early years curriculum, child development, and inclusive practice.
- Organisational and time-management abilities, including experience with planning, record-keeping, and compliance with local regulations.
- Leadership experience in a nursery or similar childcare environment, including staff supervision and team development.
- Up-to-date knowledge of health and safety standards and relevant early years legislation; enhanced background checks required in line with local regulations.
