Β£22.50 – Β£27.00 per hour + working away bonus – based on experience

Main Duties

  • Perform final SAT (Site Acceptance Testing) & handover to customer of WP supplied transformers up to 132kV, all over the UK.
  • Perform testing on transformers in the field during site refurbishments and relocation projects up to 132kV, all over the UK.
  • Testing includes but is not limited to;

– Sweep Frequence Response Analysis (SFRA).

– Dissipation Factor & Capacitance (Tan Delta).

– Exiting Current.

– Winding Resistance.

– Insulation Resistance.

– CT Analysis.

– Protection Instrument Operational Testing.

  • Complete SAT Reports to required standard and issue to customer.
  • You will ensure that all equipment is assembled and tested to the highest standard.
  • Support Lead Test Engineer with process / procedure improvements.
  • You will read and understand mechanical and schematic drawings.
  • You will be open to training and learning new methods.
  • To work unsociable hours when required to meet WP demands.
  • To work abroad/offshore on special projects if required.
  • You will be flexible and adaptable and be prepared to attend site at short notice which may be outside your normal working hours.
  • Able to work on your own initiative;
  • Work effectively and calmly to meet deadlines;
  • Carry out any reasonable ad-hoc duties requested by your direct Line Manager or the Management Team;
  • Promote teamwork and co-operation at all times, both within individual depots and right across the entire Winder Power group;
  • Safeguard all Company assets;
  • Treat all other employees and all our customers professionally and with respect;
  • Always act in the best interests of any of the Winder Power, and not to carry out (or fail to carry out) any action that would bring the company into disrepute;
  • Always work in a responsible manner to ensure safe working practices;
  • All information is to be dealt with in line with General Data Protection Regulations 2018; Health Safety Quality and Environmental guidelines provided by the company – currently ISO Quality – ISO9001:2015 Environmental – ISO14001:2018, H&S ISO- 45001:2018 including all future notifications;
  • Proactively contribute to the company’s policy of continuous improvement.

Requirements to carry out the role

Qualifications/Skills:

  • GCSEs High school or equivalent;
  • Candidate will have Electrical / Electronic City & Guilds Apprenticeship 2381, 2391 – as minimum qualification.
  • Degree level qualification in Electrical Engineering – preferred qualification
  • Broad knowledge of power engineering plant and equipment, i.e. Transformers & Reactors, HV & LV
  • Switchgear, Cabling and HV & LV protection schemes.
  • MS office inc. Word, Excel, Powerpoint & other custom software specific for test equipment.
  • Hands-on experience of working within a mechanical/electrical engineering environment is essential.
  • Electrical engineering experience.
  • Transformer knowledge.
  • Site based experience.
  • Experience in Health & Safety and conducting risk assessments are essential.
  • Full driving licence
  • Site based qualification such as Safety Passport, PASMA, IPAF and more.
  • DNO Authorisations (Can be trained – But must be willing to learn)

  • To be flexible in their approach to working hours as the role will be varied and requires working all over the UK, sometimes at short notice. This is an essential requirement of this role.
