We are looking to appoint an experienced Senior Accounts Assistant to join our busy finance team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with strong motor trade experience who is looking to step into a broader role with increased responsibility and exposure to month-end and reporting and leading a team of established accounts assistants.
You will play a key role in supporting the Accounts team and FC in ensuring the smooth running of the accounts function within a fast-paced dealership environment.
Assistant Accountant Duties- Completing balance sheet reconciliations
- Assisting with month-end and year-end processes
- Overseeing purchase and sales ledger activities
- Monitoring vehicle stock reconciliations
- Reviewing daily banking and cash allocations
- Ensuring compliance with internal controls and manufacturer standards
- Providing ad-hoc financial analysis and reporting as required
To be successful in your application you MUST have the following:
- Proven experience working within a motor trade dealership accounts department
- Strong understanding of dealership accounting processes and controls
- Experience using a Dealer Management System (Kerridge, Autoline, Pinnacle or similar)
- Experience assisting with month-end and management accounts
- Strong Excel skills
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to meet strict deadlines
- A proactive, organised and team-focused approach
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
- A positive, solutions-focused approach
- Confidence engaging with team members and ability to build effective, collaborative relationships
- AAT qualified or studying (or equivalent experience) would be advantageous
As part of a dedicated Accounts team, you will play a key role in delivering accurate financial information and supporting business performance. Your responsibilities will include:
- Overseeing bank reconciliations across two companies
- Completing balance sheet reconciliations and resolving control account queries
- Setting up payments in banking systems and monitoring approval workflows
- Assisting with ad hoc projects as required
- Supporting process improvement initiatives and identifying opportunities to enhance financial processes
- Maintain accurate financial records including ledgers, and process purchase and sales ledger transactions
- Supplier statement reconciliations, and balance sheet account reconciliations
- Support month-end financial tasks such as accruals, prepayments, and journal entries
- Manage invoicing, credit control, and payment processing activities
- Liaise with suppliers, customers, and internal departments to resolve financial queries
- Support the Finance Manager during audits and in the year-end financial processes
